PBIS at Boylston Elementary

Bobcats
Boylston Elementary School is a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support that improve lifestyle results (personal, health, social, family, work, recreation) for all youth by making targeted misbehavior less effective, efficient, and relevant, and desired behavior more functional. *

Here at BES we focus on our 3 Bs:

  • Be Safe
  • Be Respectful and
  • Be Responsible

These tenants follow students throughout their day and across settings. Regular school wide meetings are scheduled to review these expectations and students take an active role in the learnig process. When students are found meeting these expectations, they recieve Bobcats that they can redeem at the Bobcat store for prizes and other activities. Students can earn the right to participate in school-wide events such as the Tricycle race or Student/Staff basketball game. As a school, we enjoy reinforcing positive student behavior.
